Rhett Carson
Pastor
Rhett claims both Gastonia, NC and Due West, SC as his hometowns. He grew up as the son of an ARP pastor and seminary professor. He received degrees from Erskine College and Reformed Theological Seminary - Orlando. Rhett spent 8 years in youth ministry before transitioning to the role of senior pastor. He currently serves as the pastor or Pinecrest ARP Church in Flat Rock, NC just down the road from Bonclarken. Rhett married his college sweetheart Kathy and together they have 5 children: Eben, EJ, Marie, JohnE, and Katie Jo. His favorite hobbies include board games, telling dad jokes, eating BBQ, and soccer.
Mike Hicks
Youth Ministry Coordinator
Mike has served with our youth ministries at Pinecrest since February 2014. He grew up in Pinckney, Michigan where he learned about the Lords love. His grandparents were members of Pinecrest and he would visit this church as a young man. Mike moved to Flat Rock after getting out of the Marines in 2014. He has an Associates degree in Criminal Justice. Mike enjoys studying Gods word, riding his motorcycle and running with his dog Esther.
Kathy Carson
Technology Specialist
Kathy has served in technology at Pinecrest ARP Church since 2020. Since her dad was an Air Force computer technician, she moved frequently growing up but calls Sumter, SC her hometown. In 2002, Kathy graduated from Erkine College with a degree in Elementary Education, married Rhett Carson, and taught Kindergarten while Rhett went to seminary. In 2005, they started their family and now have 5 children: Eben, Emily Jane, Marie, JohnE, and Katie Jo. Kathy enjoys sunsets, listening to hymns, traveling, eating chocolate, and crafting of all kinds.
Zac Shuford
Pianist
Zac was born in Albany, Gorgia. His family moved to the mountains of Western North Carolina when he was a baby, so he calls Henderson County home. His musical journey formally began with piano lessons at the age of ten. Soon after, he began playing the trumpet in his school band and church orchestra. During this time he also learned to the play drums, guitar, and bass guitar. Over the years, Zac has been a part of many musical projects and ensembles. He began playing the piano for Pinecrest ARP Church in February of 2026. His favorite hobbies include making music, reading, playing board games and spending time with family and friends.
